Brian Burke, Toronto Maple Leafs General Manager (GM)

The worst kept secret in the NHL was announced today that Brian Burke
will take over the General Manager duties from Cliff Fletcher.

In what has been building steam since John Ferguson Jr. was fired in February of 2008, the Maple Leafs set out to try and find a winning combination and get back to the respectable hockey club that Leaf fans became accustomed to during Pat Quinn’s tenure as Coach and Coach/GM, where he set records for wins, points, playoff rounds won and overall win percentage. They got their man today with Brian Burke after he signed a 6 year deal with the Leafs, reportedly worth in the neighborhood of 18 million dollars to the the General Manager and President of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
