Leafs’ Kessel delivers OT shock to Tampa

Steven Stamkos of the Tampa Bay Lightning started it. And Toronto’s Phil Kessel ended it. In a wonderful game featuring Stamkos and several of the Leafs young guns, it was the Leafs who prevailed 4-3 in overtime at the Air Canada Centre Thursday night.

On this night, they really were the “Maple” Leafs. With a sizeable portion of Maple, Ont., on hand to watch favourite son Luca Caputi make his home debut in a Toronto uniform, the kid shook off that added pressure and delivered.

Phil Kessel scored the game-winning goal Monday night as the Toronto Maple Leafs pulled out a 4-3 victory after almost blowing a 3-0 lead to the Nashville Predators.
