Steen scored his first career hat-trick on January 4, 2007 against the Boston Bruins, ending with a 5 point game night

| Assets |
Much like his father (former NHLer Thomas Steen), he owns excellent on-ice awareness and hockey sense. Possesses two-way ability and is very creative. |
| Flaws |
Doesn’t use his size enough and lacks consistency. Has had trouble finding his NHL niche. Goes through big dry spells in the scoring department. |
| Career potential |
Top six forward. |
