Toronto Maple Leafs vs Ottawa Senators (SportsNet 7:30pm)

Mark Bell returning on a line with Kyle Wellwood and Simon Gamache seems to be the story of this game, so far. I’m pumped to see Mark Bell get on the ice, finally. I am sure that getting out and playing a shift will probably feel like a big weight off his shoulders. I’d like to see him on a line with Kilger and Poni, personally. It would probably be the one line on the Leafs that would consistently finish checks and could be a very hard line to play against. They’re all big, to – listed at 6’4 220 lbs for all of them. Hopefully, I get to see that lineup soon.

I think there are bigger stories for this game, however. Mats Sundin is 4th in the league in points and is playing with a playoff style edge that I have not seen him play with in a LONG time. Missing the playoffs two years in a row might have something to do with that. Antropov is looking excellent, as well – though his penalties are still a problem. Currently 20th in the league, with 28mins (no majors!). Having Wellwood back with Bell is a nice surprise for the Leafs. Everyone is hoping that this will open up some opportunities for the power play, but it is a lot to be asking a player like Wellwood to have his timing and fitness back in his first game. I hope I’m wrong.

The Senators are absolutely flying this year. 12 wins, 1 loss. It’s going to be hard to beat this team tonight.
